3. Payment

Workshop Cost: The total cost of the workshop, including GST, is $330. Full payment is required at the time of registration, up to one week before the start-date of the Workshop. 

Payment Methods: 

  • Payments can be made via e-transfer to financeoffice@kootenaycolumbiacollege.com.
  • We also accept credit card payments (with a 3% transaction fee).
  • When making an e-transfer, please include the message "Intro to RMT Workshop".

Refund Policy for Workshop Registration:

  • More than 30 days in advance: The college will retain a $100 administrative fee, and the remaining amount will be refunded.
  • 15-30 days in advance: 50% of the payment will be retained, and the remaining balance will be refunded.
  • Less than 15 days in advance: No refund will be issued, and the full workshop fee will be due.

Registration Instructions: Please submit the online application form, send a photo of your Government Issued ID, and send payment. Any questions can be directed to registrar@kootenaycolumbiacollege.com.

4. Workshop Details

The workshop is held at 402 Richards St. West. Workshop teaches:

  • Basic therapeutic massage techniques such as effleurage, petrissage, and palpation
  • Contraindications to massage (when not to use massage)
  • Draping techniques
  • Proper biomechanics of the therapist (how to position your body when executing massage to prevent injury)
  • Basic principles of massage

Workshop preparation:

  • Wear comfortable clothing + indoor soft soled shoes
  • Trim fingernails
  • Bring pen and paper for signing forms and taking notes
  • **optional** packed lunch for Saturday & Sunday (attendees will have access to the student kitchen)
  • Bring your own sheets (two flat sheets or a fitted and a flat). Twin-sized is preferred but anything will do!

All students entering the Massage Therapy program must complete this weekend’s workshop, Introduction to Massage Therapy. It is an admission requirement that cannot be waived. However, we will accept intro workshops from other accredited massage schools in BC.
